“The Royal Sonesta was a genuine gem in the heart of Chicago! Spent the weekend in a junior suite and the accommodations were just the start. Antwonne was the first face we had seen on entering and he made a solid first impression! He was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and sharp-dressed for good measure. The overwhelming number of attractions was a lot to choose from, but he had great recommendations for everything from food to bookstores and local attractions.
We didn't valet until the second day of our stay, but they were a hard-working crew offering great service, too! The hotel presented an opulent and beautiful image. The view from our room was great and we never had an issue for the duration of our stay. There's plenty to do within walking distance and there is no shortage of access to public transit if you want to reach a little beyond stretching your legs!”

“It needs some improvement. The location is ideal and the staff was always very friendly and helpful, that being said... It needs improvement. The biggest fault was cleanliness, when we checked in we found a bandaid on the shower floor, the jets in the bathtub has some built up grime, the sofa had that dusty old sofa smell and the comforter had some suspicious spots around it. Also, the mattress was sagging, toilet paper was rather thin, the mini fridge didn't work and the ac was a noisy nightmare. Now I understand you pay for location on this one but next time I'll probably pay some extra dollars for a better room somewhere else or just stay a couple of blocks away.”
