“SO bummed at my last and final stay. After decades of staying there since my childhood I wanted to take my husband there as well. It is owned by a Jamaican family and important to us to support local commerce - especially in Negril. We were there in the off-season, I can’t remember seeing other guests - it’s a very small place.It pains me to report what we experienced.One - BED BUGS It was horrifying, every morning we thought we were getting bad mosquito bites, but the bites looked/felt different. Then we figured it out - horrifying. Two - when we checked in, I asked the woman who checked us in which day we were set to leave. She told me a dif date than I had on my itinerary (we traveled to visit family as well, so we stayed many places on the northern part of the island for a few weeks), but she assured me that’s what she had. Well, coincidentally we wanted to try a dif (and locally owned and AMAZING) hotel just for fun, but the FOOD AT ROOTS BAMBOO IS BRILLIANT. Shout out to chef Rohan if he still there! So we walked back to Roots for dinner one more time. When we arrived, the original staff who checked me in, quietly pulled me away from my husband into the office and started to scold and berate me for “staying an extra night” - expecting us to pay. She told us a different day when we checked in, I went by her word. I understand if she made a mistake, but her mistake should not be my burden. The way she tried to bully me, berate me…the bed bugs too???? No ma’am.I am so disappointed. After decades of commitment my family makes to uplifting local Jamaican businesses, we won’t be able to support this place in its current condition.Check a 10 min walk east of Roots, there’s a lovely locally-owned place with an amazing Jamaican grape tree that canopies their outdoor dining area. Huge pool and courtyard. Hella cats oddly but no bed bugs or other critters.Bless up.”

“TÃO chateado na minha última e última estadia. Depois de décadas de permanência lá desde a minha infância, eu queria levar meu marido para lá também. É propriedade de uma família jamaicana e é importante para nós no apoio ao comércio local - especialmente em Negril. Bem, por coincidência, queríamos experimentar um hotel diferente (de propriedade local e INCRÍVEL) apenas por diversão, mas o FOOD AT ROOTS BAMBOO É BRILHANTE. Grite para o chef Rohan se ele ainda estiver lá! Então voltamos para o Roots para jantar mais uma vez. Quando chegamos, a equipe original que me registrou, silenciosamente me puxou do meu marido para o escritório e começou a me repreender e repreender por “ficar uma noite extra” - esperando que pagássemos. Ela nos disse um dia diferente quando fizemos o check-in, eu segui a palavra dela. Eu entendo se ela cometeu um erro, mas seu erro não deve ser meu fardo. O jeito que ela tentou me intimidar, me repreender ... os percevejos também ???? Não Senhora.Estou tão decepcionado. Depois de décadas de compromisso que minha família faz para melhorar as empresas locais da Jamaica, não seremos capazes de sustentar este lugar em sua condição atual.Marque uma caminhada de 10 minutos a leste de Roots, há um lindo lugar de propriedade local com uma incrível videira jamaicana que cobre sua área de refeições ao ar livre. Grande piscina e pátio. Gatos Hella estranhamente, mas sem percevejos ou outras criaturas.Abençoe-se.”
