We travel to the north of Catalonia. GERONA, time in this city with a magnificent historic center dominated by medieval buildings and Roman, Arab and Hebrew reminiscences. We suggest visiting the Cathedral of Santa María, an impressive Gothic structure in the upper part of the city, and the old Jewish quarter with its narrow and picturesque streets. We continue to the small medieval town of BESALÚ, where we will have time for lunch and walk through its streets, its impressive, fortified stone bridge, its castle, the Jewish baths and the old pilgrim hospital. After lunch time we continue towards French Catalonia. COLLIURE, is a small coastal town full of charm, its beach, its port, its alleys and its impressive castle built on an ancient Roman castrum that housed the court of the kings of Mallorca. If you’d like to, you could see the tomb of the poet Antonio Machado. In the evening arrival in CARCASSONNE, considered the best walled city in Europe. We suggest going to see the walls illuminated at night and having a dinner in one of the hundreds of small restaurants in “la cité”.

Mañana en Carcasona. Con nuestro guía iremos a su impresionante castillo condal (entrada incluida) y sus murallas medievales. Dispondrá de tiempo libre posteriormente para pasear. Tras ello continuamos hacia la cordillera de los Pirineos. FOIX, breve parada para pasear por la ciudad medieval dominada por su impresionante castillo de los condes de Foix. Seguimos hacia las altas montañas de los Pirineos, con cumbres nevadas todo el año. Entramos en ANDORRA, pequeño país cuya lengua oficial es el catalán. En nuestra ruta hacemos una corta parada junto a SANT JOAN DE CASELLES, pequeña iglesia románica del siglo XII . Continuamos a ANDORRA LA VELLA , capital del principado de Andorra, tiempo libre para conocer la ciudad con mucha vida comercial, o bien podrá ir a “Caldea”, el spa termal más grande de Europa. We will have free time in ANDORRA for shopping and exploring. After lunch, we will continue our trip and head to Catalonia. The mountain countryside leads us to the impressive site of the MONTSERRAT MONASTERY, where you will go up the mountain on a rack train to see its fantastic scenery. Following this we will continue to BARCELONA, arriving in the late afternoon.
