Day 2 - Athens -Kamena Vourla -Kastraki -Meteora -Kalambaka

We depart early in the morning towards the North of Greece. We will make a stop in KAMENA VOURLA, a beautiful touristic hub next to the sea surrounded by beautiful landscapes. We will then proceed to the north. We will make a short stop in the gorge where the Battle of Thermopylae took place. We will visit KASTRAKI, a picturesque village with beautiful views of the whole valley and where we will have free time for lunch before visiting the METEORA valley, a breathtaking place which has been declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO. We include admission to one of the most famous monasteries. Dinner is included in KALAMBAKA.

Day 3 - Kalambaka - Delphi - Osios Loukas - Athens

We will travel south through the Thessaly region. We will arrive in DELPHI after enjoying the view of wonderful landscapes. We include admission to the beautiful archaeological complex that overlooks the Gulf of Corinth with incredible landscapes, time for lunch. After that we travel to the OSIOS LOUKAS MONASTERY, one of the most beautiful Byzantine monasteries in Greece, UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its magnificent 11th century mosaics are incredible. We continue towards ATHENS. Arrival in the evening.

Day 4 - Athens

We will enjoy the city tour with a local guide which includes the Presidential Palace, the Panathinaikos stadium where the first modern Olympic games were held, the national library, the bustling squares of the center; the new neighborhoods that emerged after the 2004 Olympic games. The tour will finish at the Acropolis site (entry not included). In the evening we include a transfer to the PLAKA area, which is full of small Greek bars and where you will be able to enjoy the rich folklore of this country.

Day 5 - Athens -Tripoli -Olimpia -Patras

Viajamos hacia la región del Peloponeso. Efectuamos una breve parada junto al canal de Corinto, impresionante obra del final del siglo XIX. Seguimos entre montañas hacia TRÍPOLI, capital de la región de Arcadia. Parada en esta activa ciudad y tiempo para pasear por la zona de la Plaza areos con sus cafes y restaurantes. Continuamos ruta hacia OLIMPIA donde conoceremos el recinto arqueológico (entrada y visita con guía local incluida). En este lugar se celebraron los primeros juegos Olímpicos en el año 776 a.C., donde participaban atletas de toda Grecia y sus colonias. Destaca el Templo de Zeus, el estadio, el gimnasio y la palestra. Continuamos hacia PATRAS, la tercera ciudad de Grecia en población, ciudad portuaria con mucha vida dominada por una fortaleza medieval. Su catedral es la mayor iglesia de Grecia y junto a ella, la pequeña iglesia de San Andrés es lugar de peregrinación. Cena incluida.

Day 6 - Patras – Lepanto – Mycenae – Acrocorinth - Athens

After breakfast, we will cross over the Rio-Antirrio bridge, a spectacular cable-stayed bridge which connects the Peloponnese with the Greek continent. NAFPAKTOS, in the Gulf of Corinth. Its Venetian fortress dominates the city and reminds us that we are in Lepanto, the city which saw the fight between the Christian and Turkish fleets, the battle in which Cervantes lost his arm. Free time for a walk around its picturesque harbor and its beautiful old town. We then continue our way along the Gulf of Corinth to MYCENAE, a colossal citadel from the 18th century BC, cradle of the European civilization (admission included). Free time for lunch and walking around the place. Afterwards, free time in the huge fortress of ACROCORINTH, entrance ticket included. The foundations of an old temple of Aphrodite rest on the highest part of the settlement. We then resume our way and make a short stop in the Corinth Canal. After that, we arrive at ATHENS. Arrival expected in the evening.
